Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned the burning of a Turkish flag during the commemorations of 1915 events in the Armenian capital Yerevan on Monday.
"It has been reported in the press that during the ceremony of the anniversary of 1915 events, a Turkish flag was burned in the capital of Armenia, Yerevan, on 24 April 2017," the statement released by the ministry said.
Saying that a flag symbolizes "all the fundamental values, beliefs and the freedom of a nation," the ministry added, "The attack against our flag which is considered to be synonymous with the existence of the Turkish nation have given rise to strong resentment and reaction among our people."
"In respect of the importance attributed by the Turkish nation to these values and to the Turkish flag, we strongly condemn this action and its perpetrators," the statement concluded.
