Turkey's Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek has said that the credit rating agencies will upgrade Turkey's ratings after June parliamentary general elections on Wednesday and that he expects Turkey's Standards and Poor (S&P) rating to remain unchanged, during an interview on NTV on Wednesday.
The 14 percent inflation on food prices have been a result of speculations in the market and the government will be taking measures to control the increase in food prices, including easing imports, Şimşek added.
Şimşek's comments came after The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced the April inflation report. The monthly consumer price index (CPI) has been announced as 1.63 percent for April and yearly CPI as 7.91 percent.
