Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality to support Turkish lira campaign

At the call of Turkey's President Erdoğan and under orders from Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Kadir Topbaş, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) decided to convert its entire foreign currency savings into Turkish lira.
A statement released by the İBB said that the metropolitan municipality supported the currency exchange campaign, initiated across the country upon urges by President Erdoğan. In this context, under the instruction of İBB Mayor Kadir Topbaş, the İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality and its institutions and organizations decided to convert all their savings into Turkish lira.
"The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and its subsidiaries, the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (İSKİ), and Istanbul Electric Tramway and Tunnel Establishment (İETT), will convert approximately $41.8 million, roughly 456,000 euros, and some 393 pounds into Turkish lira," said İBB Finance Deputy General Secretary Eyyüp Karahan, who shared details of the decision with the public.
