Amity Oil International Pty. Ltd.'s Ankara branch will open a well in Kırklareli to determine the natural gas resources in the Marmara region and to bring possible reserves to the Turkish market. Exploration activities will be carried out by an exploratory shaft called Güney Reis Dere 1 on an area of around 5,000 square meters in Lüleburgaz, Kırklareli.
The exploration area was determined considering geological data required for the generation of natural gas. If natural gas is found at the end of the 112-day drilling work, gas production will begin in the wells. The work will continue 24 hours a day on three different shifts with 28 staff.
The project is expected to increase employment opportunities in the region.
According to Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) data, 479 million cubic meters of naturals gas that was offered for sale by wholesale license holder companies last year was produced in Turkey, with 280 million, 71 million and 64 million cubic meters of it being generated in Tekirdağ, Kırklareli and Düzce, respectively.
Keep up to date with what’s happening in Turkey,
