Police arrested five Russian nationals of Chechen origin in southern France on suspicion of preparing an attack, a police source said on Tuesday.
The source said four of them were arrested in Montpellier and a fifth in Beziers. According to Midi Libre newspaper, a cache of explosives was also found, and investigations were continuing.
The arrests came after 17 people were killed in militant attacks in Paris two weeks ago.
