At least 19 people were killed early Friday in a collision between a train and a bus in central Russia, regional authorities said.

At least one child was among the dead and at least five injured people were transported to hospital after the accident near the city of Vladimir, around 190 kilometers east of Moscow.

A law enforcement source told the TASS state news agency the bus may have stalled at a level crossing when it was hit by the train.

The train involved in the crash was reportedly traveling from St Petersburg to Nizhny Novgorod.
