The Dolmabahçe Palace Art Gallery will showcase "16th Century-Style İznik Tiles and Hand-Drawings on Wood" by artist couple Nursen and Güvenç Güven from Sept. 1. The exhibition will last for one week. The master artists have successfully transferred unique İznik tiles and drawings to the present day with original technique and quality.
They reflect the drawings on the Selimiye Mosque in Edirne and the Sultanahmet and Rüstempaşa mosques in Istanbul with the same patterns, compositions and colors.
The couple spent days studying the drawings on wooden platforms, an art which has not been performed for almost 400 years. The exhibition shows the drawings on mosques located in almost 50 cities including Los Angeles and Bahrain. They previously represented Turkey at international exhibitions held in Esfahan, Riyadh, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait.
Their works are displayed in the collections of Turkish and international art museums. They have opened more than 30 solo exhibitions and given interviews to local and international channels.
