The "Istanbul Orchestra' Sion International Piano Competition" will be held for the second time by the Notre Dame de Sion High School from Nov. 16 to Nov. 22. Aiming to develop artistic and musical events with young talents, the first edition of the competition was organized in November 2013 and saw 24 competitors from 13 countries participate. French conductor and pianist Vahan Mardirossian and pianists Gülsin Onay, Süher Pekinel, Pierre Reach, Roustem Saitkoulov, Ilja Scheps and Paul Badura-Skoda will chair the jury committee. Additionally, the competition is supported by pianist Ayşegül Sarıca, Professor Filiz Ali, composer and pianist Ali Darmar, conductor Orçun Orçunsel, Andante's editor-in-chief Serhan Bali, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's EU and Foreign Affairs Commission President Ayla Serpil Bağrıaçık, Istanbul International Opus Amadeus Chamber Music organizer and Artistic Director Mehmet Mestçi and the Istanbul-based French Culture Center. For a week, competitors will perform at the Notre Dame de Sion College Concert Hall. The first prize will be TL 10,000 ($4,300) followed by TL 5,000 for second prize and TL 2,500 for third prize. The first prize winner will also be offered a concert performance at Bourges Saint Bonnet Theater in France and to record a professional album. The awards will be presented at a gala the night after the competition.
