Suat Arıkan continues his expressionistic approach to paintings, using bolder colors with simpler light in the process. His exhibition, which features his most recent paintings, comes to life with the rhythm of music. Following his high school education, Arıkan enrolled at the Ankara State Conservatory to study opera. He graduated from Cemil Sökmen's class with excellent grades in 1981 and began working as a solo artist at Istanbul State Opera and Ballet. He conducted his singing, style and repertoire studies with Dan Iordacescu, Daniel Ferro, Leyla Gencer, Licinio Montefusco and Elisabetta di Stefano. The artist has given numerous concerts both in Turkey and abroad and has a repertoire going back to the 17th century. Arıkan has also written columns on the art of opera and presents various radio programs, in addition to previously undertaking the management and art directorship of Mersin State Opera and Ballet during the 2002/03 season. He was also assigned to Istanbul State Opera and Ballet with the same title. The artist serves as a jury in several competitions and has won many awards, including the "Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, given by the president of Italy in 2006 for his contributions to art. Aside from his musical projects, Arıkan also gives lessons at the Haliç University Conservatory in addition to his academic work at Istanbul University and Mimar Sinan University. Arıkan maintains his musical and artistic career together, and continues his work in Istanbul.
