Sculptor İskender Yediler, who continues to produce art in Berlin, is holding his first solo exhibition, "Nepenthes," in Turkey at the art On Istanbul gallery. Exhibiting his recent works that open the doors to the tropical world, his sculptures made of yellow copper and aluminum, paper works and wall panels using the iznik tiling technique are being debuted. Named after a tropical carnivorous plant, the exhibition offers impressive details on how abstract forms observed in nature might assume different meanings. Yediler explores the carnivorous plant world with expressive colors in his work that is displayed at various international museums and private collections, evoking irony with a touch of black humor. His pieces at the exhibition aim to make viewers laugh and think while contemplating the rare plants, different forms and striking colors. Yediler makes references to social and political entities as well as different cultures that he was able to observe and study during his travels to the Far East including Bangkok, Hanoi and Angkor Wat.
