A special cultural and culinary adventure is waiting for those interested in the history and uses of roses, a unique symbol of elegance and love for centuries. The Turkish Cultural Foundation's Culinary Arts Center (YESAM) will organize a cultural trip to the Aegean city of Isparta, largely known as a capital of rose oil and rose production. Participants can visit sweet-smelling rose gardens and local shops. Before witnessing the rose harvest in Isparta, a small tour around the ancient town of Sagalassos will be organized to discover the region's deep-rooted culture. It is a great chance to learn how roses are used as cosmetics and flavoring in confectionaries such as "lokum" (Turkish delight). The tour will be guided by journalist and food culture researcher Aylin Öney Tan, an expert on the culinary culture of Sagalassos and the historical role of roses in Turkey.
