Taking its name from a spirit named Ariel, who creates a storm by fluttering its magic wings in Shakespeare's "The Tempest," Ariel Sanat opened its doors to an exhibition "Fırtınanın Çayı" (The Stream of Storm) on Sept. 2. Featuring Murat Akagündüz, Bilge Alkor, Silva Bingaz and Selim Birsel's works, the exhibition will remain on display until Oct. 17. Akagündüz participates in the exhibition with his abstract patterns on paper, while Alkor departs from the works of Shakespeare with her graffiti paintings. Bingaz exhibits two black-and-white photos featuring a fairy girl's pure beauty, which is then changed to a sorcerer's image. Selim Birsel prefers to use the place freely as a platform for artistic expression. Ariel Sanat is located on the two floors of Narmanlı Apartment in Istanbul's Teşvikiye neighborhood. It operates under the Bilge Alkor Art Collection. Apart from contemporary art exhibitions, other cultural events will be organized for Istanbulites in the upcoming months.
