Accomplished percussion master Hamdi Akatay, who has performed with significant figures in both Turkey and abroad for more than 30 years, has realized his project that brings Turkish and Roma melodies together with the work of legendary composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. He formed an orchestra with young musicians from the Tepecik district of İzmir province, known to be mostly inhabited by the Roma. The Tepecik Philharmonic Orchestra will perform at Babylon Bomonti on Oct. 1. The group performs under the motto "We can play both Mozart and local music."
