Istanbul Arabesque Project will perform their compositions with arabesque elements on Oct. 3 at Kılçık Mekan. Interpreting Arabesque music with rock and eastern-style percussions, the Istanbul Arabesque Project travels around the country. They perform music of many Arabesque musicians including Bergen, Kamuran Akkor, Orhan Gencebay and İbrahim Tatlıses. The group promises to show the entertaining side of arabesque, not its sorrowful parts. Istanbul Arabesque Project released an album under the guidance of Turkey's state-run broadcaster TRT (Turkish Radio and Television Institution), which is a first of its kind. They describe their music as pure arabesque. The band was founded by Barbaros Akbulut, who is also the drummer, producer and songwriter. The other founding member is Korkut Peker, the group's guitarist, composer and backing vocal. Istanbul Arabesque Project has worked with many soloists so far. Serkan Öngel has been the group's bass guitarist since 2011.
