Ankara to hold International Flamenco Festival

The reflection of feelings with singing, guitar and dance, namely flamenco, will meet art lovers for the ninth time in the international Flamenco Festival in Ankara, Oct. 10-17. Presented by the Flamenco Association of Ankara in collaboration with the Spanish Embassy, the festival will present flamenco guitarists and flamenco dancers from around the world. In addition to concerts and shows, the festival will offer lovers of flamenco many workshops, seminars and courses. A flamenco parade in Tunalı district will also take place, and a party will be organized within the framework of the festival.

On the first day of the festival, Italian flamenco guitarist Livio Gianola, whose fame is growing all over the world, will be on stage accompanied by flamenco dancer Cristina Hall. The show, which will take place in Kemal Kurdaş Hall at Middle East Technical University, is titled "Otro Sitio" (Another Place). On Oct. 11, the Mirenesis Flamenco Project, a flamenco dance project created by dancers Senem Balaban (Turkish) and Siri Salminen (Swedish), will take place in the Center of contemporary art in the City Council of Çankaya. Calo Flamenco will be at the Academy of Art of Nesibe Aydın on Oct. 14 with their compositions and arrangements from new flamenco and flamenco fusion to modern music. The group is accompanied by young Turkish dancers Elif Akbaydoğan and Fırat Yalçın. On Oct. 15, the Flamenco Association of Ankara will hold a party at the Crossroads pub in Çankaya, starting at 20:00. On the last day of the festival, Oct. 17, the Oscar Guzman Ensemble will be in SURA Hall in the Ministry of National Education at 20:00, presenting their new album "Street of Memories." Dancers Lola Jaramillo and Jesus Herrera will accompany the group.
