The Modal Jazz Quartet aims to bring jazz together with Turkish classical and folk music. The primary aim is to contribute to the international recognition of Turkish music, which is a rich tradition with a vast repertoire, and introduce polyphony using traditional rhythm. All compositions and arrangements are by Nail Yavuzoğlu and he also performs on bass guitar. The Modal Jazz Quartet includes trumpeter Şenova Ülker, guitarist Önder Focan and Erdem Göymen on drums.
