BIST-registered banks recorded 5 percent more profit in first half of 2015

The unconsolidated net profit of deposit banks being traded on the Borsa Istanbul stock exchange increased 4.76 percent to TL 8.946 billion in the first half of the year, compared to the same period last year. According to the data compiled from Public Disclosure Platform's (KAP) figures, the unconsolidated net profit of deposit banks soared to TL 8.946 billion ($3.16 billion) between January 2015 and June 2015 from TL 8.539 billion in the same period last year. As far as unconsolidated data is concerned, Türkiye İş Bankası made the highest profit of TL 1.820 billion in the first half of the year followed by Garanti Bank and Akbank with TL 1.816 billion and TL 1.413 billion, respectively.
Finansbank stood out as the bank with the highest period income surge, increasing its net period income 46.7 percent in the first six months of the year when compared to the same period last year. It was followed by Garanti Bank and Vakıfbank with 15.6 percent and 13.6 percent, respectively. The only bank that declared a loss was Tekstilbank, which had a period loss of TL 23.497 million. Meanwhile, the unconsolidated net profit of deposit banks that are being traded on the Borsa Istanbul in the second quarter of the year decreased from TL 4.589 billion to TL 4.411 billion, marking a 3.9 percent decline when compared to the same period last year.
