The U.S. dollar and Turkish lira parity rate hit two-week high on Thursday, and exceeded 2.90, following the downing of Russian jet escalating tensions.

The rate hit its highest level since November 11 on early Thursday.

The rumors over the autonomy on the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) also triggered the increase in U.S. dollar.

The rate jumped from 2.88 level when markets were closed in Turkey on Wednesday.
