Fenerbahçe chairman Aziz Yıldırım has been heavily fined for making threatening remarks to a referee.
Yıldırım has been deprived of his rights for 60 days and fined 40,000 Turkish Liras ($15,710) by the Professional Football Disciplinary Committee (PFDK) of Turkish Football Federation (TFF) for his behavior against sportsmanship on Monday.
Following their unexpected 1-2 defeat against Akhisar Belediyespor on February 23, Fenerbahçe chairman Aziz Yıldırım heavily criticized referee Özgür Yankaya, and the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), for the decisions within the match, saying "Yankaya cannot come to our games anymore. Even if he comes, he won't be able to leave the stadium."
"I am not threatening anyone, and I will if I can but what I mean is our fans would not allow him," Yıldırım later added to his astounding remarks.
When reminded that he may receive a punishment from the TFF for his comments, Yıldırım said "After we start, punishments would not be able to stop us. I would sit in the middle of the pitch."
