Turan's cockpit visit causes trouble for flight crew

Turkey captain Arda Turan was pictured at the controls of his national team's flight last week prompting aviation officials to warn of potential punishments over safety breaches, according to goal.com. Atletico Madrid midfielder Turan landed a flight crew in trouble after he was allowed to visit the cockpit and use the public address system during the Turkey squad's flight back from Luxembourg last week. The Turkey captain was pictured seated at the controls of a Turkish Airlines flight before he spoke over the pilot's PA system to congratulate his team-mates following their friendly win over Luxembourg. The General Directorate of Civilian Aviation (SHGM), which controls the country's aviation legislation, stated that the incident was a breach of safety rules and warned of potential sanctions. In a series of messages posted through their official Twitter account, the SHGM stressed: "Flight teams must abide by ‘Safe Cockpit' rules for the duration of the entire flight. No one but the flight crew should be admitted to the cockpit." They later added that any pilot in violation of such rules could be subject to a fine of close to 355 euros. A late goal from Hakan Çalhanoglu sealed a 2-1 win for Fatih Terim's side in Luxembourg, following their 1-1 draw with Netherlands in Euro 2016 qualifying on March 28.
