Super League minnow Akhisarspor stunned holder Galatasaray with a shock 3-0 defeat at Akhisar Arena Sunday. Akhisarspor found all three goals in the second half to earn its first win in the league this season, bucking a five-match losing streak. Galatasaray wasted a chance to take the lead in late first half after winger Garry Rodrigues missed a penalty kick.
Akhisarspor also saw one of its goals disallowed in the first half. The referee called it an offside with the help of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR). Akhisar's Dutch winger Elvis Manu was the key player for his team, breaking the deadlock in the 51st minute and then winning a penalty kick in the 80th minute. Güray Vural scored from the spot to make it 2-0 for Akhisar.
Mustafa Yumlu then added one more to the tally in the 84th minute capitalizing on a mistake by Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera. This was Galatasaray's second defeat of the season and saw the Istanbul club recede the top spot to Medipol Başakşehir, who drew 0-0 with Bursaspor to move up to 13 points. Galatasaray is second with 12.
