Miraç Geyik - The 53rd International Antalya Film Festival, one of the longest established film festivals in the world, came to an end this weekend with a closing ceremony held at EXPO 2016 Congress Center in Antalya on Sunday night. Yeşim Ustaoğlu's "Tereddüt" (Clair-Obscur) and Ümit Köreken's "Mavi Bisiklet" (Blue Bicycle) won top honors at the award ceremony.
American actor Harvey Keitel received "Lifetime Achievement Awards for their distinguished and established careers. "Your works inspired me, my works inspired you. I hope your stories will go on and wish everyone success," said Keitel during his acceptance speech.
"Mavi Bisiklet" (Blue Bicycle) won three Golden Orange Awards in the ceremony, including the "Best Film Award in National Feature Film Competition," "Best Screenplay Award" and "Best Director Award." Director Ümit Köreken received the awards on behalf of his team.
- Veteran Turkish actor Menderes Samancılar received "Best Actor Award" for his performance in "Babamın Kanatları" (My Father's Wings).
Speaking at the ceremony, Menderes Samancılar said the Golden Orange means a lot to him, adding he sees so many promising actors and actresses in other films featured in the festival.
Yeşim Ustaoğlu's "Clair-Obscur" dominated the International Feature Film Competition Awards. Ustaoğlu's film won a Golden Orange for "Best Film." During her speech, Ustaoğlu was accompanied by the cast of the film.
American actor, singer, and director Robert John Davi gave a mini concert at the award ceremony and edicated a song to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Turkish people, who defended democracy during the night of the failed coup attempt on July 15.
