Istanbul Photo Awards 2025 winners announced

Among the photographs submitted from different parts of the world, this year Palestinian photographer Saeed Jaras’ work titled "Gaza-Deir El-Balah" was deemed worthy of the Photo of the Year award.

In the photograph, a mother and father embrace their children after they were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting their tent in Deir el-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip.

The second-place award in the Single News category was won by Zuma Press photojournalist Saher Alghorra with his photograph titled "Rest in Peace."

The third place award in the Single News category was won by Polish photojournalist Patryk Jaracz with his photograph titled "A Supermarket in Kharkiv."

The first place award in the Series News category was given to Agence France-Presse (AFP) photojournalist Omar al-Qattaa for his photographs titled "Israel-Palestine Conflict."

First place in the Single Portrait category went to Italian photographer Mauro De Bettio for his portrait focusing on women in Afghanistan.

The second place award in the Single Daily Life category was given to AFP photojournalist Sameer al-Doumy for his photograph titled "Under the Scars of War."

The second-place award in the Series Daily Life category was given to Politiken-Panos Pictures photojournalist Mads Nissen for his photographs titled "The Beast - A Dangerous Journey Toward the American Dream."

The first place award in the Series Daily Life category was given to Italian photojournalist Valentina Sinis for her photographs titled "Would Afghan Women Tell Their Stories?"

Agence France Presse (AFP) photographer Jerome Brouillet won first place in the Single Sports category with his work documenting the reaction of Brazilian surfer Gabriel Medina after catching a massive wave at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
