An active PKK member has been arrested for the controversial tweets sent prior to the Ankara suicide bombings. It has been revealed that PKK-linked Polatsoy sent the three tweets which sparked debate among Turkish voters on whether he had any affiliation with the pro-Kurdish HDP and if the PKK had any involvement in the attack

Mehmet Serhat Polatsoy, a member of the PKK terrorist organization who sent the controversial tweet before the Ankara bombings was arrested on Wednesday.

The tweet saying "Bomb will explode in Ankara" was sent using the handle "@DrBereday" and stirred controversy in Turkey as it was sent 9 hours before the terror attack carried out by an ISIS-linked suicide bomber Yunus Emre Alagöz.

Tweet sent hours before the Ankara terror bombing says: "The bomb" will explode in Ankara

According to security sources, anti-terror units have obtained information that a plan is underway to conduct a bomb attack right before the upcoming November 1 general elections in the district of Suruç in eastern Şanlıurfa province where a suicide bomber claimed 33 lives last July.

Upon the information, security forces have raided several spots in the district and detained Polatsoy.

The PKK member was arrested by the Ankara court on the grounds of "being a member of a terrorist organization and making terror propaganda."

Mehmet Serhat Polatsoy, the user of the twitter handle "@DrBereday" had sent three tweets before the bombing in central Ankara which said "The bomb will explode in Ankara," "What about an ISIS explosion in Ankara?" and "ISIS may explode a bomb in Ankara, and the only way to prevent this is leftist organizations. The PKK will not be involved in the attack."

The PKK member was detained on October 14 for the three tweets.

Security sources also stated that Polatsoy has been involved in the PKK terrorist organization since 1997. Sources also added that he has been an active member of the terrorist group and has been making propaganda of the PKK in the southeastern Şanlıurfa and Diyarbakır provinces.

Polatsoy had also been detained in May 2013 in an anti-terror operation conducted in Şanlıurfa in which ten of kilograms of TNT explosives, hand grenades and other types of firearms were seized.

Hee was jailed for a year between 2013 and 2014 for terror activities, stated security sources.

The suicide bombings in Ankara – the deadliest attack in modern Turkish history – were set off by two suspected suicide attackers in a crowd of leftist, pro-Kurdish and union activists at a peace rally. The attacks near Ankara's main train station left the bodies of dead demonstrators strewn across the ground.
