A 29-year-old man fatally shot five of his relatives in a killing spree yesterday in the central city of Konya's Cihanbeyli district.
Authorities said Atılgan Kömür, apparently suffering from undiagnosed schizophrenia, grabbed his shotgun and went to the four homes where the victims lived, killing two 80-year-old men, a 79-year-old woman and her son, along with a 64-year-old relative.
He was arrested in his home after neighbors called police.
"They deserved it," Kömür told reporters as police escorted him out of a hospital where he was brought for medical examination.
