An Istanbul court on Friday rejected an appeal from Mehmet Altan, an academic who was arrested for suspected links to Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ), days after the Constitutional Court ordered his release, media outlets reported.
The full text of the verdict from the 26th High Criminal Court was not available when Daily Sabah went to print. Earlier on Friday, a detailed verdict from the Constitutional Court was published in the Official Gazette on the release order for Altan and Şahin Alpay, another FETÖ suspect, on the grounds that their rights were violated.
Both men were arrested after the July 15, 2016 coup attempt blamed on FETÖ and were accused of aiding with the terrorist group's propaganda.
