Sixty-one suspects including former and active-duty military officers were arrested on Friday in operations against the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ).
The Chief Prosecutor's Office in the western city of İzmir have issued arrest warrants for 72 suspects in a case against the terrorist group blamed for the July 15, 2016 coup attempt. Operations were underway to capture the rest of the suspects when Daily Sabah went to print.
The suspects include retired officers and officers who were earlier dismissed from the army on the suspicion of links to the group. They were identified in an investigation about FETÖ point men's contact with suspects via payphones, a commonly employed method used to avoid police surveillance.
