One killed and three others were injured when security forces opened fire on human smugglers ignoring their warning to stop in Hatay, a Turkish province bordering with Syria.
Gendarmerie forces were trying to stop a car carrying human smugglers in Altınözü district of Hatay yesterday when the car sped up and suspects fled a gendarmerie checkpoint.
Soldiers later engaged in a shootout with the suspects. One suspect was killed while six others in the car managed to flee. All suspects were Syrian nationals and security forces launched an operation to capture the fleeing suspects.
