A man who died of unknown causes was found in his Istanbul home late Sunday, where he appears to have been mauled, his face eaten by his pit bull. The body of 44-year-old Atilla Çolakgil was discovered by police in his basement flat in the city's Fatih district, after neighbors alerted authorities that he had not been seen for three days.
The man's face was severely disfigured by the dog which had been trapped with his deceased owner for three days and apparently was suffering from starvation. The dog was seized by the police and an investigation has been launched into the cause of Çolakgil's death.
