ISTANBUL – The number of registered motor vehicles in Turkey reached over 18 million in January 2014 and a total of 124,291 vehicles were registered in January, the country's statistics authority said on Tuesday.
Cars represented 51.9 percent of the total, followed by small trucks at 16.4 percent, motorcycles at 15.1 percent, tractors at 8.7 percent, trucks at 4.2 percent, minibuses at 2.3 percent, buses at 1.2 percent and special purpose vehicles at 0.2 percent.
In terms of the distribution of car model brands for the 81,477 new registered cars in January, Renault recorded 16.8 percent, Ford 11.4 percent, Volkswagen 9.8 percent, Opel 9.3 percent, Fiat 7 percent, Hyundai 6.5 percent, Toyota 5.9 percent, Dacia 4.6 percent, Peugeot 4.3 percent, Citroen 3 percent and the other brands took 21.5 percent of the total.
