Interviewing more than 27,000 consumers in 22 countries online, a global GfK survey on "Reasons for trying to look good and time spent on personal grooming" showed that Italians spend the most amount of time per week on personal grooming including bathing, shaving, dressing, hair and make-up, at almost six hours. The study claims that Turkish women spend 4.6 hours per week on personal care, while the rate is 3.2 hours for Turkish men. Among 831 Turkish participants, 77 percent said "feeling good about myself" is the top reason for personal grooming. Considering world-wide results, women spend an average of almost five hours a week on personal grooming, while men spend over three hours. All age groups agree that feeling good about themselves is the leading major motivation. The other reasons include making a good impression on people they meet for the first time (44 percent) and setting a good example for their children (40 percent). Men and women mirror each other in seeing these as the top three reasons for wanting to look good. Chinese people spend the least time grooming. Italy is followed by Argentina and the U.S.
