The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) has released ISBN statistics for 2015. The number of materials published in Turkey increased 11.2 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 56,414.
Web-based e-books achieved the highest sales ratings with 21.8 percent. In 2015, publishers applied for ISBNs for 56,414 publications, including 49,148 books, 539 e-books in DVD, VCD and CD formats, 6,389 web-based e-books, 103 speaking books on cassette tape, CD and DVD and 235 other materials.
The private sector also increased publications 11.9 percent compared to last year, reaching 52,056. In 2015, 92.3 percent of all materials were published by the private sector, 5.4 percent were published by public and educational institutions and 2.3 percent were published by nongovernmental organizations.
