Are you one who resorts to online shopping to help cope with the Monday morning syndrome? Apparently Turks do. Online shopping is a growing business in Turkey and the shopping rates rise on Monday, according to local e-trade business's figures. Especially white-collar workers prefer online shopping in the afternoon hours from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. "We see a significant rise in our shopping traffic on Monday and between these hours," said Mehmet Ekerbiçer, a manager of Turkey's giant online shopping platform Hepsiburada.com.
"I think employees find shopping as a way to relax at work and it is the same for Mondays as we receive more demand. Monday Morning Syndrome is an important stimulus, raising our revenues," he said.
Since 2010, online shopping has become more common in Turkey. "The influence of social media on shopping is very high. However, concrete marketing strategies are necessary to support e-trade," he added. "For internet use, Turkey ranks fifth. There is a direct relation between e-trade and internet use. This is why we need more progress to see a boom in this field," Ekerbiçer said. In Turkey, there are more than 73 million mobile subscribers and this number means a lot for e-trade potential. According to the latest figures of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), e-trade has shown 30 percent growth from January to June this year.
