May's ‘sensational' trousers turn out to be made in Turkey

British Prime Minister Theresa May's much-talked leather trousers which cost 995 pounds turned out to be manufactured by a leather company in Istanbul, Turkey. The British prime minister was one of the most discussed topics of the last few weeks due to the her photos in which she posed for the Sunday Times. The leather trousers that May wore in the photographs were criticized for their price tag and the incident was named "Trousergate" by the media. However, it is reported that May's now famous trousers were manufactured by an Istanbul-based leather company in Güngören. British Daily Mail claimed that the workers at the leather factory make 1.49 pounds an hour. According to the article, the trousers designed by British designer Amanda Wakaley were made in Turkey. May's expensive trousers were criticized by British Education Minister Nicky Morgan who said: "If I spent that much money on trousers, I could not look my voters in the eye." However, the British media later found out that Morgan also has a leather bag that costs 950 pounds. Moreover, Morgan's Mulberry bag was also made in Turkey.
