Turkish city with a penchant for classical music

The Ayvalık International Music Academy (AIMA) Music Festival, which will run from July 18 to July 21, promotes classical music in Turkey.

The festival, which will be held for the fourth time this year, will start with an opening concert by the AIMA Festival Orchestra under the baton of Alexander Rudin at Rahmi Koç Museum, Taxiarches Church.

In addition to Rudin, who will also perform as a soloist, violinist Pelin Halkacı Akın will also perform at the concert.

The AIMA Festival Orchestra will accompany viola player Marco Misciagna, violinist Elif Tarakçı Akyar, cellist Dilbağ Tokay and contrabassist Onur Özkaya on July 19. The festival will continue with a Borusan Quartet concert on July 20 and end with a chamber concert on July 21.

At the last concert of the festival, violinists Tolga Kulak, Ilgın Ülkü, Olgu Kalın, Eylül Umay Taş; viola players Emre Akman, Hüseyin Mehmetoğlu; cellists Alexander Rudin, Nil Kocamangil, Beste Başçı; pianists İris Şentürker, Emre Yavuz and contrabassists Onur Özkaya and İlker Cankara will perform.
