AK Party rejects meeting request of oppositions’ presidential nominee

The ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) has allegedly rejected a meeting request of Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu, the former head of Organization of Cooperation (OIC) who had been nominated by the opposition parties for presidential candidacy.
After a month of meetings with various political parties and non governmental organizations, the main opposition Republican People's Party and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) surprisingly decided to nominate İhsanoğlu, drawing criticism from many of their voters.
