Recep Tayyip Erdoğan appealed to a crowd celebrating his yet unofficial presidency in Istanbul's Sütlüce before flying to Ankara to address the nation as the 12th president of Turkey.
Greeting the crowd Erdoğan said " My dear brothers and sisters, dear Istanbulites, I am standing before you to thankyou before I deliver my major speech in Ankara at 10p.m tonight. We are still playing the extratime minutes in this presidential match, as it isn't over yet. Hopefully with the final whistle, the referee the supreme electoral board (YSK), will announce the official results. The people have manifested their willpower today."
"Once we get 100 percent of the results we will embrace our nation from the balcony of our parties headquaters in Ankara. I ask for your prayers. As long as I live I will continue to serve my nation and my country. We will continue the struggle to bring an advanced democracy to our country. We will work towards establishing the reconciliation process in our land. Once again, I would like to thank everyone who has supported us along this way", continued Erdoğan.
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is the first ever president to be chosen by popular vote in Turkey.
