Professor Gökhan Çetinsaya, the head of Council of Higher Education (YÖK), has been appointed as the new "Ambassador" Head Consultant to Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu.
Davutoğlu has recently taken significant steps towards improving employee rights in higher education institutions. As part of this initiative, the new Head Consultant is expected to take part in structural changes in Turkey's university system.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is expected to appoint a new head to the Council of Higher Education, to replace Professor Çetinsaya in the coming days.
Professor Gökhan Çetinsaya is a professor of political science and had been head of the Council since 2011.
