The Supreme Election Board (YSK) announced that this Friday is the deadline to submit the final list of deputy candidates. Justice and Development (AK Party) chairman and interim prime minister, Ahmet Davutoğlu, and his team have focused on finalizing the list. The AK Party is expected to announce a new election manifesto and present its candidates on Sept. 21 in Ankara.
After last week's AK Party congress in which Davutoğlu was re-elected chairman and the majority of the party's executive decision bodies were overhauled, the AK Party has focused on the candidate nomination process. Reportedly, Davutoğlu and the party executive decision bodies are scrutinizing the nominee candidate list and trying to finalize it before the official deadline to submit it to the YSK on Friday. The AK Party is expected to announce the list of candidates to the public with a grand ceremony on Monday. The party's election slogans, new election song and election promises are also expected to be announced on the same day. Reportedly, the AK Party will have two main slogans: "With the same passion of day one" to emphasize the enthusiasm of the voter base in the early years of the party, and: "Vote for stability, vote for the AK Party," to emphasize the prosperous stable environment during the AK Party's 13 years in power as a single party.
Since only six weeks are left until the early elections, the AK Party is not planning to hold meetings in Turkey's 81 provinces as it did before the June 7 elections. Instead, the party plans to hold around 30 meetings and wants to focus more on television programs to explain its election promises to the public.
