Opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli said on Tuesday that the Republic of Turkey is being put on trial by a politically motivated court in the ongoing case of Turkish-Iranian gold trader Reza Zarrab in New York and the MHP will not remain silent. "Turkey is being put on trial by a politically motivated, biased court in the U.S. We cannot remain silent about this incident," Bahçeli said in Parliament during his weekly party group meeting.
"We are not saying that there was no crime and we are not trying to protect the criminals. However, the legal authority, legal territory and de jure boundary are where the crime was committed, and that's the Republic of Turkey," Bahçeli said. "Turkey will never lose its value over charges against fools."
Calling the Zarrab case an "international conspiracy" in favor of members of the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ), Bahçeli said: "Turkey's enemies will be disappointed."
Claiming the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) is cooperating with international conspirators in the U.S., Bahçeli asserted that the CHP is in a rueful position for linking domestic politics with this case and hoping for help from the U.S.
