Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo's columnist Fernando Polo, who is known for close relations with Barcelona, analyzed Turkish midfielder Arda Turan's amazing improvement this season.
Polo wrote, "Turan made a bright start in his second season in La Laiga. He has begun to show why Barcelona paid 40 million euros for him."
According to Polo, there are psychological and physical factors behind the development of Arda Turan. Polo said, "The star player had the motivation of proving himself after the disappointing European championship. One of the things that Arda had to realize was that he had to catch his team friends.
"Arda Turan joined the preparation camp after he lost four kilos. Now he is thinner and faster. Besides, Arda started the season by knowing that he would be a starter in the squad. Coach Luis Enrique changed his position and used him in the more forward line. This affected Arda Turan to use his skills more productively. The Spanish journalist also alleged that when Neymar returns to the team, Arda Turan might be benched again. "However, a lot of people think that Arda can replace Neymar" he added.
