Turkish sportsman Sertan Aydın has been preparing to break his previous Guinness World Record for the "longest underwater walk with one breath" in Turkey's western town of Çanakkale in the memory of the people killed by the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ) during the July 15 coup attempt and other victims of terror in Turkey.
Aydın, who had broken the record by walking 79 meters underwater on April 19, 2015, now is practicing five to six hours per day in order to attempt to walk 89 meters on Dec. 4 in Çanakkale.
Aydın had walked 79.93 meters underwater setting the new Guinness World Record for the longest distance traveled on foot underwater in a single breath at the Anafartalar Olympic Center Swimming Pool, Çanakkale in April 2015. Previously the record belonged to American Joseph Wilkie with 73.6 meters.
"I can hold my breath for nearly nine minutes, I do my practices in the sea in summers but I do it in swimming pools in during the winters due to weather conditions." The Turkish sportsmen said. "I do breathing exercises on land and I spend three or four hours a day holding my breath."
