National athlete Bengisu Avcı, 21, is training to become the youngest Turkish woman to swim across the English Channel.
Avcı, who is also a third year student at Ege University, was on the women's team that completed the 34-kilometer (21-mile) parkour from Capri Island to Napoli, Italy last year.
Continuing her training in İzmir where she studies, Avcı aims to complete the 36-kilometer English Channel pakour in under 10 hours.
"I want to be the youngest Turkish woman to cross the English Channel by swimming, following the 1979 footsteps of Nesrin Olgun, the first Turkish woman to cross the channel by swimming it in 15 hours 47 minutes. If I can find sponsor, I believe that I can complete seven long-distance swimming parkours in seven oceans," Avcı said.
