More than 1 billion people logged into the social media network Facebook in one day, marking a new record for the company, said Facebook co-founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg on Thursday.
The 31-year-old entrepreneur said the milestone was the "beginning of connecting the whole world," according to a message on his Facebook site.
"On Monday, one in seven people on Earth used Facebook to connect with their friends and family," Zuckerberg wrote.
"I'm so proud of our community for the progress we've made. Our community stands for giving every person a voice, for promoting understanding and for including everyone in the opportunities of our modern world," he further added.
