Turkish brand General Mobile (GM) presented the GM 5 Plus at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), currently being held in Barcelona. The device will initially be sold in 15 countries, and will then be available in 45 countries by the end of 2016.

Following their successful collaboration with Google's Android One platform, General Mobile decided to sell the new model in 45 countries until the end of 2016. Commencing development of the new model after the GM 4G's success in Turkey, the company presented its second product, the GM 5 Plus, running the Android One platform at the MWC. The company, in collaboration with Qualcomm via Snapdragon 617 processors, is coming to the market with a 5.5-inch device with quick charge capabilities. The rear and front-facing cameras have the same 13-megapixel camera, and since it is an Android One device, it will run the latest edition of Android, Marshmallow 6.0.1, when released. The device will go on sale in April, and while the GM 5 Plus will be sold for 199 euros in Europe, the sale price is expected to be TL 999 ($339.82) in Turkey due to taxes.

"Our success and experience with the GM 4G on the Android One platform has pushed us to take a more serious step. Now with the GM Plus 5, we will put this device, with the highest price-performance rate, into the market of 15 countries. Until the end of 2016, we aim to reach buyers in 45 countries," said Sebahattin Yaman, chairman of General Mobile. "We will present the best ‘selfie' experience in its class. In collaboration with Qualcomm, we broke new ground in Europe with a strong 8-core, 64-bit processor and a 4.5G CAT-7 modem. The users will be able to upload photographs and live videos to social media via download speeds of 300 megabits per second (Mbps) and upload speeds of 100 Mbps." General Mobile General Manager Muzaffer Gölcü added.
