Rossiya - Russian Airlines will start regular flights to Istanbul and Antalya from St. Petersburg due to increasing demand next month.
A statement by the airline read, "Rossiya Airlines, which is a subsidiary of Russia's largest airliner Aeroflot, will start regular flights from St. Petersburg to Istanbul on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays as of 27 March."
The statement also noted that the airliner will initiate scheduled flights to Antalya on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays as of April 27. It underscored that tourists and businesspeople in particular have increasing demands for flights to Turkey.
The president of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, Maya Lomidze, in a previously released announcement, said that according to early reservation data, Turkey's popularity among Russian tourists as a summer vacation destination in the upcoming season has reached record highs.
The St. Petersburg-based Rossiya Airlines was purchased by the national carrier Aeroflot, which made the airliner a full subsidy of Aeroflot. Currently, the carrier has 61 airplanes in its fleet.
