The number of passengers receiving services from Turkish airports reached 84.2 million in the first half of the year, according to the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ).
The DHMİ announced yesterday the aircraft, passenger and cargo statistics for June of this year. According to the data, the number of passengers on international flights increased by 14 percent, reaching 57,580, while the number of passengers on domestic flights decreased by 1.2 percent and stood at 78,415. As of the end of June, there was an increase of 10.1 percent in overflight traffic.
Moreover, overall aircraft traffic, including the overlight traffic, increased by 5.8 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 172,310 aircraft. In June, the number of domestic passengers increased by 7.3 percent to around 8.98 million, while the number of international passengers increased by 30.4 percent to around 8.15 million. Thus, with direct transit passengers included, the total number of passengers rose by 17 percent to 17.15 million in June compared to the same period of the previous year.
