According to İsrafil Aslan, the Director of Gümüşhane Youth Services and Sports, snow depth has reached one meter at the Gümüşkayak Facilities, which is located on the 2,100 elevation Zigana Mountain.
Aslan said that winter tour operators are pleased with the snow, even though the season started late this year. "With snow depth reaching one meter, the Gümüşkayak Facilities is at the fullest capacity seen in recent years. The fact that we are at over 80 percent full capacity has brought a smile to our faces and pleased the facility's owners."
Aslan went on to explain, "Zigana is the most important ski center in the Eastern Black Sea region. It is the meeting point for those in Trabzon, Rize, Artvin, Giresun and Gümüşhane. Not only is the Gümüşkayak Facilities easily accessible through transportation, the fact that it is located close to surrounding districts makes it a convenient and favorable destination.
With the recent snowfall, our skiing center located at 2,100 elevation on Zigana Mountain has become an important meeting point for winter tourism and ski-lovers alike. Zigana is a brand. The management is taking the necessary special care to be able to provide even better service," stated Aslan.
