On Sunday morning, President Abdullah Gül was on his computer at the Tarabya Palace, where he used the social networking site Twitter to share his impressions of his trips to Bolu and Düzce.
In his message, Gül started off by stating, "Hello, everyone. It is cloudy today in Istanbul. I am at home at my computer." Gül posted details of his trips to Bolu and Düzce from last Thursday and Friday and shared a photograph of himself standing on the shore of a frozen lake in Gölcük. Gül also added a photograph taken with an elder lady who offered him an apple and commented, "There was also a veil for Ms. Hayrünnisa in that basket of apples." Gül also shared a photograph of himself exiting the historical Governor's Residence in Bolu, and wrote, "I feel sad for provincial buildings. The old governor's residences are gone and replaced by buildings with low ceilings… I was very pleased when I saw the Bolu Governor's Residence. It is a beautiful historic building built in the 1800's that has been well-preserved." THE PALACE KNOT UNRAVELS The debate surrounding President Abdullah Gül's term of duty will come to a close this week. On Thursday, the Parliamentary Constitution Committee will finally solve the puzzle of whether Gül's term of duty will be five or seven years' long. It is expected that at the meeting, Gül's term will be defined as seven years in accordance to a temporary clause that will be brought on by the AK Party. Opposition parties are defending the stance however, that Gül's term of duty is for five years.
