Turkey's 6th face transplant surgery was completed at Akdeniz University Hospital in Turkey's southern province of Antalya.

The operation, which continued 8 hours, has been carried out by Prof. Dr. Omer Ozkan.

Ozkan and his team transplanted the face of Muhittin Turan to a 54-year-old Turkish patient Salih Ustun.

Ozkan told AA that the face fitted perfectly, adding, "this face transplantation was the most complex one I have ever carried out."

31-year-old Turan had experienced a motorbike accident two days ago, and was declared brain dead at the hospital. The family of Turan had decided to donate his organs.
